Social media posts move fast and stay short. The client needed a place to go deeper: a go-to resource that gave deeper context to the client’s media niche. It had to be built from nothing, with no budget, in a niche narrow enough that every visitor had to be earned through organic traffic alone.
Growth came from building something worth finding and worth linking to:
- Steady new content: new pages added regularly, expanding the site from about 100 pages to over 300.
- Backlinks and domain authority: earning links from other sites so the resource ranked and was trusted as a reference.
- 100% organic: no paid ads at any point.
Results were tracked throughout, and what kept visitors reading shaped what was built next.
Part of a small team: I handled design, development, content writing, the technical side, and analytics.
- New visitors up about 4×: about 1,500 a year in Year 2 → 6,500 in Year 4.
- Yearly page views up more than 4×: about 4,500 → 19,100 (Year 2 → Year 4).
- Visitors stayed about twice as long: roughly 40 seconds → 80.
- The site grew from about 100 pages to over 300.
- 100% organic, built with no budget.
- Year 5 (nine months so far): its largest audience yet, about 1,500 monthly visitors at the peak.
